Architectural Space Integration Challenges

Millpond Cigar Lounge in Northford required a locker installation that could work as part of the room instead of reading like a row of loose storage cabinets. The project centered on full locker modules with upper compartments planned for humidification equipment, giving the lounge member storage below while keeping mechanical access and air movement accounted for above the main locker openings.

The layout had to stay orderly across a wide run of doors, locks, rails, and compartment spacing. On a locker wall, small alignment problems become obvious fast. Door reveals, hardware positions, top compartments, and finished ends all had to be coordinated so the installation looked intentional from one side of the room to the other.

The custom maple finish also mattered. A locker wall becomes part of the lounge architecture, so the finish needed to feel permanent, clean, and easy to live with during daily member use. The design gives customers dedicated storage while keeping the wall organized for staff and visually consistent for the lounge.

Handcrafted Production & Woodworking Execution

Newsham’s Woodshop manufactured the Millpond locker modules as commercial cigar lounge millwork built for repeated customer interaction. Structural cabinet assemblies were glued, screwed, and dowel-joined for strength rather than relying on structural staples or nails.

The upper humidification compartments were planned into the locker configuration rather than treated as an afterthought. With HUBBLE humidification and a custom blower system noted for the project, the cabinetry had to provide a clean finished appearance while still supporting the equipment needed behind the member storage system.

Each module was fabricated to maintain consistent spacing, door alignment, and overall cabinet rhythm across the finished installation. The result is a custom locker wall that supports member storage, humidified operation, and the finished look expected inside a commercial cigar lounge.
