Architectural Space Integration Challenges
The Cigar Republic in Conshohocken required wall cabinetry that could handle serious product presentation without flattening the room into one long display case. Multi-tier wall cabinets create more selling surface, but they have to be planned carefully so customers can see the selection, staff can restock quickly, and the finished wall still fits the scale of the lounge.
The design needed to organize cigar storage, display, and related retail areas while tying into the surrounding lounge environment. Cabinet heights, glass lines, shelf positions, and visual breaks were coordinated so the wall felt layered and intentional rather than heavy. That balance is important in a cigar lounge where the humidor and retail wall are part of the customer experience.
In a larger lounge, display cabinetry also has to hold up visually from a distance. The wall should draw customers toward the humidor area while still looking balanced from the bar, lounge seating, and main circulation paths. That meant avoiding a one-note cabinet wall and using tiered presentation to give the room more depth.
Handcrafted Production & Woodworking Execution
Newsham’s Woodshop manufactured the cabinet sections as commercial millwork built for daily use. Structural assemblies were glued, screwed, and dowel-joined to create stable cabinet runs that can handle traffic, cleaning, stocking, and regular customer interaction. Cigar-facing areas used genuine Spanish Cedar where required for humidor performance and proper storage.
Across the installation, the emphasis was on clean alignment, consistent reveals, durable construction, and a finished presentation that looks permanent inside the space. The completed work gives The Cigar Republic organized product capacity and a stronger architectural focal point for its Conshohocken lounge.

This custom cigar retail gondola and slat wall display area was designed and manufactured for The Cigar Republic in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The installation combines custom cigar gondola displays, slat wall merchandising, glass display cabinetry, and coordinated woodwork to create a clean, organized sales area for cigar accessories, apparel, branded merchandise, and featured retail products.
The center gondola gives the store flexible floor merchandising space, while the surrounding wall displays and glass cabinetry help present inventory in a polished, easy-to-shop layout. As part of a complete cigar shop interior, this project shows how custom cigar shop store fixtures can help improve product visibility, customer flow, and the overall retail presentation.
